We are a Biblical Church in the Wesleyan tradition. As such, the Bible is our source of faith and practice; we accept, as Christians have for centuries, the Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds as faithful testimonies to the Holy Scriptures. The Wesleyan movement itself was born in England in the 1700’s. John and Charles Wesley, two brothers, were priests in the Church of England. As students of Oxford University, they practiced a disciplined or methodical approach to Christianity, including both piety (devotion) and social issues.
In 1738, John Wesley’s heart was “strangely warmed” at Aldersgate; he felt for the first time that God truly loved him and had forgiven him. He and his brother, Charles, proclaimed this personal faith to others and soon others joined them.
